CAFESSIO is a coffee brewing timer and recipe app for Android. This policy explains what happens to your information. The short version: nothing leaves your phone, because the app has no way to send it.
What we collect
Nothing.
This is not a promise about how we behave — it is a property of how the app is built. CAFESSIO does not request Android’s INTERNET permission. It has no network access at all, so it cannot transmit your information anywhere, to us or to anyone else, even accidentally.
We have no server. We have no account system. We never see your data, because there is no mechanism by which it could reach us.
What the app stores on your device
Everything you create stays in the app’s private storage on your phone:
- Recipes you create or import
- Your brew journal, including ratings and tasting notes
- Your coffee bean records, including any photos you attach
- Your settings and preferences
- If you purchase CAFESSIO Pro, a record that you own it
Photos are stored as references to files already on your device. They are not copied anywhere or uploaded.
Uninstalling CAFESSIO deletes all of it. There is no server copy to delete, because there was never a server copy.
What we do not collect or request
- No account, sign-in, name or email address
- No location, of any precision
- No contacts
- No advertising identifier
- No microphone access
- No analytics or tracking of any kind
- No crash reporting
- No advertising
We do not sell, share, rent or broker your information. There is nothing to sell, and no way to transmit it if there were.
Permissions and why
CAFESSIO requests only these, and only from the screen that needs them — never at startup:
- Notifications: to show the ongoing brew timer notification
- Foreground service: to keep the brew timer accurate and controllable while your screen is off
- Keep screen awake: only when you turn that setting on
- Vibration: for step alerts
- Camera: only to scan a recipe QR code, on a screen you open deliberately. No image is saved, and with no internet permission a camera frame cannot leave your device
- Bluetooth: only to find a brewing scale and read the weight from it. Nothing else is read
CAFESSIO does not request location permission of any kind. This has a visible consequence we think is worth explaining: on Android 11 and older, the system will not let an app scan for Bluetooth devices unless it holds a location permission. Rather than ask you for location we do not need, CAFESSIO simply does not offer the Bluetooth scale on those versions. On Android 12 and newer the scan is declared “never for location”, which tells the system the app cannot derive your whereabouts from it.
Spoken step guidance
CAFESSIO can read the current brew step out loud. This setting is off unless you turn it on.
When it is on, the app hands the text of the step to the text-to-speech engine already installed on your phone — Speech Services by Google, Samsung text-to-speech, or whichever engine you have selected in your Android settings. That engine is a separate app made by someone else, with its own privacy policy, and it renders the audio from voice data already on your device.
We mention it because it is the only case in which anything you see in CAFESSIO is handed to another app. What is handed over is the brewing instruction itself — “pour 50 grams”, “wait 30 seconds” — never your recipes, your journal, your notes or anything you have written. CAFESSIO holds no internet permission, so it cannot send that text anywhere itself.
If your language has no voice installed, Android may offer to download one. That download happens inside the speech engine’s own app, on its own permissions, under your control. Until a voice exists, CAFESSIO stays silent rather than read instructions in the wrong language.
Payments
CAFESSIO Pro is a one-time purchase handled entirely by Google Play. We never see, receive or store your payment details — Google processes the payment under its own privacy policy.
When a purchase completes, the app stores a record on your device confirming you own Pro. That record stays on your device like everything else.
Google Play collects information about app downloads and purchases independently of this app, under Google’s own privacy policy. That is outside our control and happens whether or not you use CAFESSIO.
Backups and exports
CAFESSIO can export your data to a file you choose, so you can move it to a new phone. That file goes wherever you send it, and once it leaves the app it is under your control, not ours. We never receive it.
The app also disables Android’s automatic cloud backup, so your brewing data is not copied to Google Drive without your involvement.
Children
CAFESSIO is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone. Since the app collects nothing from any user, this is true for children as it is for everyone else.
Your rights
Because your data never leaves your device, there is no request to make of us:
- To see your data: open the app
- To export it: use the export function in Settings
- To delete it: delete the individual records, or uninstall the app
We cannot access, retrieve, correct or delete your information on your behalf, because we do not have it.
Changes to this policy
If the app ever changes in a way that affects this document — adding a backend, analytics or crash reporting — this policy will be updated before that version is released, and the “last updated” date above will change.
